Hmm… I thought maybe it could be magic, X….So I went to Facebook to see whether I could find tomorrow’s strip, in color…. I mean the one we’ll see in black and white on Saturday.
But instead, I found yesterday’s strip….in color (!)…with today’s date….
So I guess my magic extends to colorizing…. but, alas, not to foretelling the future.I’ll let Madame Beviek (claim to) do that.
Color version:
There was no question from Tony, but he did add a bit of commentary:
“My apologies to the actual blind. But they’re funnier than most people.”
Anyway… Tony…. er… blind people are funnier?Is that another one of those compensatory things people believe….like “Blind people can hear better,”or “Deaf people see brighter colors?” Or short bald guys…um… OK…. never mind…short bald guys totally made that one up.
Anyway… yeah…it kinda reminded me of a sign I saw today at the county fair….
A coincidence, but I just happened to have taken a picture cos it struck me funny:
I guess it’s just that my mind (which we all know is a bit off kilter)saw a tiny connection between saying blind people are funnier and calling a wheelchair a “fun rider.”
BTW my mother didn’t want kids “helping” her cook….so the first time I ever baked anything, it was in a 7th grade Home Ec class…(For those of you outside the US and probably Canada, 7th grade is when you’re about 13, and Home Economics is, or was back then, mostly a cooking and sewing class.)We made what were called “plain muffins.” Now, a muffin, in the US, is a cup-cakey sort of thing, usually a bit less sweet than a cupcake, but baked in the same type of pan…and these days almost nobody makes plain ones.
they make bran muffins, blueberry muffins…cranberry, orange, even chocolate chip…sometimes vanilla or butter pound cake muffins which some might call plain…
But what we baked in that class were plain muffins. Hardly any sugar, NO vanilla….a little bit of vegetable shortening, no butter or margarine.So plain you could taste the baking powder.
And we did our best, but they were hard as rocks.Not burnt or overbaked…. just hard.
We got to take them home. My family reminded me about those wonderful muffins for quite a while….like… oh…. 20 or 30 years.
So I’m thinking maybe Peg had my Home Ec teacher.Or… sigh…. her daughter, I guess.
Oh… and Bev… from yesterday….Lev!I totally meant Lev!
