Here’s a way to avert both crises… Superman doesn’t need a phone both to change. He can simply do it at super-speed on the way to the scene of the crime… :-)
Notice that the trademarked names “Superman” and “Clark Kent” are not mentioned in the strip. Maybe saying Gotham instead of Metropolis is another piece of camouflage to prevent a lawsuit.
OK, by now I’m sure Mr. Myers has been roundly hassled over putting Supes in the wrong city. However, I feel compelled to add that my favorite scene in the 1978 version of “Superman” (Christopher Reeve’s first outing in the cape and tights) was where he responded to a cry for help and went to change in a phone booth — only to find it was one of those (then) newfangled open-air booths with no enclosure. So he goes into a revolving door which then cranks up to something like 15,000 RPM for a second or two; et voilà! Out steps ol’ Supes in the flesh. A flashily dressed pimp eyes Superman’s threads and says, somewhat slowly and admiringly, “Hey, Jim!”, to which Supes replies, “Excuse me,” and flies off.

Let me be the first of probably several comic book geeks to point out that Superman lives in Metropolis, not Gotham City – that’s Batman. XD

Yeah because Batman had already dealt with the crime.

Is that how “Batman very Superman” started?

What good is the secret identity if even Broom-Hilda already knows Clark Kent is Superman?

Supes looks like he’s been hitting the donut shops.

Superman might get changed in Gotham if he was a member of the Justice League.
