this was the Republicans biggest catch in 30 years. Now have you finally got revenge for Nixon so we can move on and run this country? Or do you still have an ax to grind against nothing?
Gerrymandering is just wrong, that is a position I’e always held. In 2010 the Republicans openly planned to take over as many state houses as possible and received unprecedented funding towards this goal. Their aim was to rewrite Congressional districts in a most undemocratic manner to disenfranchise thousands of non Republican voters. Their success can be seen in the numbers. Well over one million more votes were cast for Democrat Representatives than Republican Representatives yet the Republicans hold substantial more Congressional seats. This from the party that fights for voter ID saying they want to keep the process pure. Sure they do…
$7 million, admitted too, and years of harassment, the parities involved and the nation, and that minnow represents their brain size after all the “investigations”, when the whole, accurate, story was laid out a couple years ago, that neither the military or state did anything wrong under the circumstances that Stevens himself put in play in his efforts a Ambassador. He loved the Libyan people and though he could trust the ones he’d hired to guard him. Mistake #1.
The fact is that there remain many “missions” around the world run by State Dept. that cannot physically or economically provide the full security folks seem to think is possible; it’s a nasty world people, and risks have to be taken. Of course, our chickenhawk national mentality, especially on the political right, can’t accept that.
Northern RedmanWhen you have boundaries that look lke some demented fractal, it’s gerrymandered. If a district runs from the Red River to a couple of counties from salt water, but never more than three counties wide, it’s gerrymandered. If it is about as compact as possible and all boundaries follow either natural features (rivers, mountain crests, etc.), limited access highways, or straight lines of over a mile, it probably isn’t gerrymandered. No matter what party drew them.
kurtzwickyI have seen that one thanks to a colleague in Maryland; an excellent example of the “demented fractal”. The Texas example was the taffymandered one in which I ran for state school board in 2010; at least it is a bit more compact now and the Republicans (give them the rare credit) beat back another flat earth candidate in the primary this year.

Yep. The Democrats in MD have jobs for life because of gerrymandering. Elijah Cummings gets elected every two years by an 80/20 margin.

These people in the media on the left are delusional, but people still fall fall for their delusions – I don’t know which is worse.
