Unfortunately that’s the way it works. When ever there is a medial blow out over an attack somewhere in the country or when ever there is a gun bill introduced the gun shops have record sales days.

No, she buys the NRA BS that any commonsense law to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have them really means it is a law that will forcibly take all of your guns away and not allow anyone to ever, ever have one again. That seems to be what most gun lovers believe based on what I see on comment boards. I ask those people to show me one bill that addresses every individual or restricts every single gun much less attempting to remove any existing guns that people own.

Hey, this is fine with me. Let the fools spend all their disposable income on guns that will gather dust until someone wants to commit suicide one day.

@magicwalnut – Perhaps you haven’t thought this through. If I’m a President who dislikes gun ownership I can disarm the population by putting everyone on the terrorist watchlist.

I’m actually in favor of expanding background checks but I am not in favor of removing someone’s right to bear arms or any other right without due process. It just makes it too easy for a President who considers himself above the law to remove rights with the wave of a hand.

The last time the country fell into this lunacy (9/11) we let President Bush (A doofus of equal caliber to Obama) remove all sorts of rights and freedoms in the name of keeping us safe and we are still suffering for it. Airport lines are still a night mare and I watched the TSA pat down an elderly woman in the airport the other day.

The Federal government is out of control and it needs to be reined in.

Yup, we desperately need another gun control law. Surely the haters and their outlaw cronies will follow the new one just as assiduously as they have the old one. You know, the one that makes it illegal to kill people.

Fools, the NRA tells you the government is coming to take your guns, you go buy more guns, prices go up, the NRA is paid off, they pay off the government to relax more laws, another tragedy takes place and the NRA tells you the government is coming to take your guns. Wash, rinse, repeat. Keep whining about more laws, there are actually less laws now than 10 years ago to regulate guns. The NRA has made sure to erode those protections and block any new measures.

@Uncle Joe – Name one elderly person that has committed a suicide attempt. I haven’t read of any.

And if elderly are being used as drug mules – More power to them. The Federal Government shouldn’t be searching every citizen like a criminal anyway. I hope they all slip through and deliver their payloads to their buyers.

We can’t end the War on Drugs soon enough.

NRA’s first focus is selling more guns for their “sponsors”. There first weapon is fear and panic among the already fearful and ignorant.

That’s pretty disgusting, even by your standards. Are you trying to be banned here?

A liberal/Democrat Harvard Professor Dersowitz is quoted as saying that the sit-in was “A Bonehead Stunt”…and “the Democrats made fools of themselves.”-When after 26 hours of rule-breaking in a planned and catered and illicit videotaping of their juvenile demonstration, they lined up at the top of the Capitol steps and marched down, singing “We shall Overcome”…(overcome the US Constitution, IMO).-The Senate had already debated and voted down 4 gun bills; the Democrats in the House could not even get a gun bill voted out of committee….any gun bill they might draft would not solve one mass shooter attack in the future and would not have stopped Omar Mateen in Orlando!-They lie and claim those hunting rifles are “war weapons” and “assault guns” when they are clearly not, and easily proven by gun experts not to be anything but rifles that shoot one bullet when the trigger is pulled. -And you don’t have to be a member of Mensa to know that dedicated mass killers on a mission or any other criminal planning to shoot people will not care or obey any gun law!-And common sense ought to convince anyone that if you are in a public crowd and someone starts shooting, if any member of that target crowd is armed, the killer can be shot and the massacre can be prevented.

couldn’t survive on your own ~I doubt you could survive on your own either. Remove everything in the US without a “made in the USA” label and I think your lifestyle would go down a few notches. That once great nation that could do it all.. is long dead

Disgusted: there were TWO armed security guards in the club in Orlando, the “good guys with guns” didn’t prevent the massacre.

I have hunting rifles with five round capacity. I had an M-16 – the base for the AR 15, and parent of most ot these similar weapons, and it was the size of the magazine (small by today’s standards) that made it more deadly against humans, as in combat. Same for the AK-47 which is a much heavier, and far more accurate weapon than the 16. (A REAL AK btw, not the cheap knockoffs most of these clowns buy.)

I don’t need an M-16, AR 15, or AK for any legitimate purpose served by by other pistols, rifles, and shotguns, NONE OF WHICH WOULD BE BANNED, even in most of the countries that DO ban semi-auto military style weapons. Hunting and sports shooting is still allowed in most of the countries most often cursed by the NRA-types, btw.

You aren’t very good at interpretation, are you? No, scratch that—you’re GREAT at it. At interpreting things to mean what you want them to, I mean.

What really annoys me is the GOP will fight to the death to fight for any paranoid to have firearms no matter how lethal. Then in the same breath they want to make abortion illegal to protect the unborn. So then an unwanted child is brought into the world unloved then turns to crime as an adult. They exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights & proceeds to murder unarmed civilians. When will this madness end ?

@dtroutma…I havn’t seen details in the news as to when and how Omar Mateen killed security guards. Do you know an url that gives that information? Were the guards in uniform, and killed before they knew an armed man had entered? Or did they shoot and miss? I’m very interested in knowing why the shooter of a minimum of 102 bullets was not stopped.-You obviously know guns, but news reports said Mateen used a SIG SAUER carbine rifle. Are you familiar with that gun? And of course guns can be purchased as “basic” and modified, legally, but you would know more about that than information I searched for and found that is limited. -I just would like to see posters give relevant and correct facts in posts. And I would like to see more Americans supporting the Constitution’s 2nd Amendment, which the Founders listed second only to Free Speech and Free exercise of religion, which they believed to be ranked first in the We the People’s rights that God gave us and the State should honor.
