It would be nice if Congress followed the law. They won’t hold confirmation hearings for the supreme court justice. The Post Office has 8 of the 11 directors waiting to have a hearing because the House can’t get around to it. Four million immigrants who have lived here for decades and have children born here mat be deported because the House is to busy screwing around to do anything that is really important. God forbid they could actually pass a real budget. Why the heck to we keep these morons around?
Good King Nothing must be storming around the West Wing whining and sniveling about his royal decrees being declared unconstitutional. Just imagining that image fills my heart with joy.
The founding fathers were fearful that a President in the future would selectively enforce the laws thus giving themselves royal power and they were absolutely right to be afraid.
The Constitutional Scholar got his royal A$$ handed to him by the REAL Constitutional scholars :)
Wrong name on that robe, the Supreme Court does not have enough justices on it so it resulted in a tie. The Supreme Court isn’t carving anything, the lower courts are.Due to Republican’s inaction the president created an Executive Order. Had Congress passed immigration reforms this would not have been necessary. The lower court struck down the order, and the Supreme Court case resulted in a tie. Because the Senate did not do it’s job, any ties stay with the initial ruling. The courts inaction does not provide a statement against the president as much as it shows how ineffective it is to make its own decisions do to being one justice down. The president was not breaking any laws, he created an Executive Order and a lower court struck it down.
It was a tie vote not a decision, gridlock of four on four, not as many as in Congress, but the stalemate is just as stupid. Interesting how with Reagan (Iran/contra and others), Bush 41 invading Panama, and the idiocy of Afghanistan and Iraq, it’s only Democrats that are supposed to follow the law, that as the idiot Speaker points out, only Congress can actually write the laws they themselves ignore, or construct to their benefit, and the benefit of the top tenth of one percent in the population.
@uncle joe and twclix – The Supreme court essentially couldn’t decide and left the lower court ruling in place. That’s good enough. They can no longer selectively deport with out being in violation of the constitution.
So I will gloat thank you very much. I have been so sick of liberals assuring me that Obama is a Constitutional Scholar and if he is doing it it must be right. This is vindication for me.
