A friend of mine once told me the story of the first time she tried making Mac and Cheese. She was raised by her grandmother and never learned anything about cooking, she was visiting her boyfriend (later her husband) at his apartment while he was cooking dinner for the two of them and his roommate and got called away so she offered to take care of the Mac and Cheese. She read the directions and figured it was easy enough so she waited for the water to come to a boil and then added the mac and cheese box – the box, not the contents of the box. She’s a much better cook now.
