There is one big difference between assault rifles and all the other false equivalents that have been noted above. The main purpose and design of assault guns is to kill as many people or things as quickly as possible. Not so alcohol, knives, cars, fists, feet, etc. It should not be a big stretch to ban or regulate killing instruments for the sake of public safety.
First; Mateen didn’t use an AR-15, he used a Sig Sauer that even the manufacturer declares is a prime military and police weapon, not a “civilian use” design, such as hunting.
Regulating capacity of handguns and rifles CAN reduce the carnage of mass shootings. Regulating “gang-bangers”, which police agencies try to do, is an important part of the picture, and that includes “militias” and groups such as “sovereigns” who’ve attacked and murdered police officers in repeated events.
Once again…you totally miss/ignore the point. Weapons like the AR-15 kill multiple people in a short amount of time. And it isn’t just one time….many massacres in this country are the result of these weapons because they are so effective.
How can you be so f**king obtuse and ignorant? Oh yeah..you’re a republican apologist..now I’ve got it!
This may be one of the most idiotic “thoughts” I have ever seen. This is a problem of unstable individuals ( Newton, Aurora , etc did not involve Muslims ) and a weapon that only a moron would want to have available in our society.
By the way, ask the NRA or the Republican National Committee or the GOP Convention if they will allow you to walk into their places with these weapons in an open carry scenario ?

All Muslims are not mass murderers. All assault weapons are designed to kill a large number in a short period of time. Absolutely no equivalency.

Assault rifles are a right wing religion.

Gun fetishists and RWNJs like to ignore that there have been 135 mass-shootings y-t-d in the U.S. { FBI statistics }. There were 14 in Florida, alone.
Here’s a simple, basic LIBERAL idea: My right to live is more important than your right to own a gun!

And a lot of American Christians seem to be OK with mass murder. What about them?
