And another day goes by without the driver of the pickup’s being identified and without our knowing whether he lived or died.

It must be quite a while after the wreck. Del’s been taken to the hospital, examined, leg put in cast, handcuffed to bed, etc. And Mrs. Bader has no idea there was a fatality? Not possible. Unless by “other driver” she means the man or woman driving the pick-up.

This isn’t a very modern hospital Grand Master Bader is in. If this was in set in the current century those clipboards would be tablets.

The pickup driver was a joyriding alien, who has been teleported back to the mothership and successfully treated for a dislocated tentacle. Xzslx was unable to stop because, being unfamiliar with earth vehicles, he hit the defroster instead of the brakes.

Del will now be one of those guys who gets to join AA while in prison. it will also be a condition of his release that he attend meetings and he will have to have the meeting chair sign his sheet to prove he was at a meeting. Of course, he won’t remember a thing about the accident, cow judge or not. Tally ho!

Driver 2 is just as liable due to negligence. He should’ve been able to see Boo’s car in enough time to stop. If not, he was outdriving his headlights (going too fast for conditions). Accident reconstruction based on expertise and the data in the car’s chip memory would be able to determine where his braking started, his vehicle’s road speed and speed at impact. But none of that is salient because Boo is … (snif) … Boo … is … (snif) … Boo is DEAD, dammit.

The only interesting character ever in the whole strip and now she’s DEAD. Rubin and Whigham should be the ones on trial.

Del should be charged with drunk driving but not killing Boo. But then she may have died before the pickup hit her. They have to let us know about the pickup driver.

Del might be subject to the felony murder rule. If his drunk driving was a felony, and Boo’s death occurred in the course of it (which it did), he could be charged with murder.
