As a plastic scale modeler myself, I can say that, these days, the magic word is “Internet”. (I haven’t set foot in a hobby shop in years, but I can find a heckuva lot more of what I want online; including stuff that never seemed to be available in the brick-and-mortar stores.)

What nostalgia — I have a choice of two real hobby shops in all of Greater Vancouver. They used to be all over!
