My daddy wanted to do that when he had his “Pick-Your-Own” garden. Just to keep people from tearing up his vines and plants. Some people he wouldn’t let near his cuke vines….especially when they had their rug rats with them.
It appears the man holding the gun has pantyhose covering his face (see the legs over his left shoulder). So, I think the humor is that a ‘bad guy’ is forcing the farmer to ‘pick your own’ for him. A little too subtle for me but I do appreciate the difficulty of cranking out something most people will find funny day after day after day.
My interpretation: You’re supposed to pay by weight for what you pick, and if you eat any, they don’t get paid for. So he’s making sure that none go into the mouth.
