Doesn’t laze fair economics mean that a private company has every right to do something like this if they wish?

in one of my journalism classes, we learned early on that most newspapers have a right or left bias…it ain’t anything new

Unfortunately, reality has a “liberal” bias. Much of conservatism seems to run counter to factual evidence (see, for example, the Laffer curve, Kansas fiscal policy, anthropogenic climate change, the Planned Parenthood scam, etc.). The young people who run Facebook have no reason to report conservative stories that are patently not true.

I have an elderly conservative neighbor who stopped over one day to have me post something on FB that she had received in her email. “I know you’re a liberal,” she said, as the transfer was made. “Don’t read it.”

Isn’t Facebook your friends and family? If there is a liberal bias, isn’t that your fault for having liberal friends? Or is there some issue because everyone can post facts that don’t jive with your touchy feely non-science beliefs? How can social media, which is made up of people, and you subscribe to people you know be for or against anything? It just is a medium. Are you so used to blaming the “media” that you think Facebook is making your friends liberal?

I looked at Facebook and found it useful for contacting old friends, but the other uses - e.g. news - , seem like a reach and with stacking, certainly not unbiased. The heaviest concentrations of GOP are in the boomer and silent cohorts which are aging and dying, the heaviest concentrations of Democrats are in the Gen-X and millennial cohorts which soon will become the largest voting block. Facebook originally attracted the younger generations, but they have moved on to other social networks as the older generation is starting to use more often. Facebook has not yet adapted to the change in its membership and their less optimistic outlook.

I recently had a thought that raises question in my mind, which is that I have to wonder how many of the extreme right belong to the flat earth society.

Those who get worked up about how FB is not featuring enough conservative news items are 1) admitting that their own news sources are controlled, and 2) ignore Faux News which is a 24-7 shill for the Republicans with never, ever, ever any news from any other viewpoint.

The GOP doesn’t need Facebook, they have FOX news!
