Parents that get then end of a semester grade and have no clue that their kid is failing, have failed. Most schools/teachers will contact or have the ability for you to see the grades any more. Point in fact, bonus daughter’s (bf daughter) grades took a dip last trimester, now dad checks everyday, and her grades have been better then previous. A little effort from parents and its amazing what can happen.

I wish be true. Most college kids have to return home no jobs. Here our local school due to budgets no summer school, one school building for alternative students was closed and combined in a different location. School district had to make sever cuts.

That’s how I felt when I found out my son has to repeat 2nd grade. But it’s for the best.

Night-Gaunt49: Every district is different but I know where I live summer school is for certain kids. So for instance, this year it’s only for 3rd graders who have been held back or who are thisclose to passing but need that extra help. All other primary grades can’t go to summer school. Basically, the child has to be on an “invite” list and the terms change every summer. The school told me one year it was for kids who passed but were struggling a bit, another year it was only for kids who have been held back, another year it was only for kids who passed, but barely.

Wanted to take English in Summer School in Junior High so I could be ahead for the next year. Wasn’t allowed to.

The old saw: “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t MAKE them drink” Applies here..Too many school-aged kids think that they DON’T need school because they are dreaming of their future—-They are certain that they’ll grow up to be a star of something. (Rock, Rap, Sports, etc.). They really think that they will beat the odds, and that that means they DON’T NEED an education..They do not realize the odds are against them, and that DREAMS don’t always come true.

Why do people even have kids – when they count the days (years) when the kids will leave??
