Try reading some of the comments on Target’s website from those folks. Sadly, there are people who think “Christianity” means shooting those not like them.

Read the news. There has been more than one story of people saying they will carry their guns and shoot any transgendered person they find in the “wrong” bathroom.

I was raised by my grandparents and a single mom. My grandmother was conspicuously religious, my grandfather rolled his eyes a lot, but went along with the central idea of universal peace and love, so I was raised with the concept that we should all do our best to treat everyone with kindness and respect. I thought that was what Christianity was all about, and I try to adhere to those concepts, even though I inherited my grandfather’s skepticism about the supernatural. Now, when I spend some holidays with in-laws who are self identified Christian reconstructionists, I can no longer see any of the kindness I was introduced to as a child. The old testament seems to dominate their ideology and the love seems to be exclusively for those who share their beliefs. I do not generalize that all Christians are like my in-laws, but, there must be quite a few (hopefully a small, but vocal group) as this article indicates with these major points about the difference between traditional and contemporary fundamentalist American Christianity:“ …1. The first Christians rejected personal ownership of property and engaged in a redistribution of wealth.2. The first Christians didn’t like big, show-y church stuff.3. The first Christians didn’t warn anyone about hell.4. The first Christians weren’t patriotic.5. They were universally pacifists.… “http://www.patheos.com/blogs/formerlyfundie/5-reasons-why-many-american-christians-wouldnt-like-the-first-ones/I’m sure that there are many Christians who are shocked at the ill treatment of people who are different for any reason and that in time a more traditional belief system will prevail.

Your second amendment right does not trump another human’s right to just live. Even if you don’t agree with how they dress, talk, raise their children, who they love or where they pee. Put your guns away step closer to the urinal quit crying about not being able to take away more people’s rights.

Clay, humor has some element of truth in it. This doesn’t.
