Like everything else, you get what you pay for. Salaries for these people are so low that they only get the worst, uncaring McDonalds rejects to do these jobs. Rich people constantly whining about cutting taxes and republicans who pander to them are ruining our country.
Overlooked is how many calls arrive at 911 asking the dispatcher what temperature to set their ovens at for baking brownies. Along with Air Traffic Controllers, this is another job that takes the ability to deal with boredom, irritation, and the moments of terror when sound mind and control of emotions is critical. And yes, the pay is generally lousy.
As if the system allowed responsibility. We’re nothing but profit centers to the boys on the top. And the republicans have persuaded many to take pride in it and fight to pay top dollar for everything.

Our local 911 is being investigated. They are in no hurry to give assistance or tell the emergency personnel correct directions.
