What Bernie kickstarted is not ending with his loss, nor is it ending with the losses of other progressives (Donna Edwards, for example). The attention is shifting to downballot races, and I think there will be a lot more progressives challenging the Democratic establishment in every future election. I’m so sick of warmongering corporatists running the Democratic Party. What I really want to see is the implementation of IRV and the elimination of party primaries. Then the Democratic Party can go hang.
Sanders is a candidate that is worth voting for. The country could use a good debate about what goes on here compared to places like Sweden, Norway and Finland, where, by and large, the middle class has a far higher standard of living than we do. The Trans-Pacific Partnership should be rejected and we must develop trade policies that benefit working families, not just Wall Street and multinational corporations. Too bad his path to the White House is virtually closed.
