My maternal grandfather was Cherokee, good riddance Andy.

Because of Hollywood’s success and the US’s very successful TV products which are consumed the world over, folks outside the USA get an overload of American history (as told by the victors, naturally) and are often as knowledgeable about America’s past as their own country’s past. (erm, or as ignorant, cuts both ways)

It didn’t surprise me at all that I had to look up Harriet Tubman. Never, ever heard of her before.

At any rate, cool.

Jackson was a “populist”, and good for him. However, he was against a National Bank, and managed to eliminate our first effort at creating one, leading to all the different “currencies” and bank failures, etc. until we got our act together in the 20th century.The Fed isn’t perfect, but Jackson, with his views, never belonged on a DOLLAR bill, let alone a 20!All because he won a battle AFTER a war was over! Thank God for sailing ships and slow communications?

About time.

This act had worn thin 50 years ago.

I never could figure out why Jackson was honored on the 20: he nearly sank the country. A much more important female figure than Tubman in the history of the country and among the black community was Eleanor Roosevelt. Personally, I would have preferred Pres. Truman. He made the gut wrenching decision which ended WW2, saved Europe, both from starving and from the communists, and began the integration of the military.

What would be more interesting is when some people, guided and/or misguided by their idealism, decide that Andrew Jackson’s name should be removed from Fort Jackson outside of Columbia, South Kaki-Laki.

Jackson’s been on the 20 for nearly a century, far longer than the nonentities who preceded him. He’s had a good run, and is not divine, so, time to go.

^itisme: if I’d been my American citizen, educated and religious ancestor, back then, wouldn’t have liked Andy or the Congress. BTW: the Cherokee were more “Christian” and educated within their population than was that Congess!!

Democrat Jackson will be replaced by Rebublican Tubman; this is a good thing.

What place in history? His anti-bank policies lead to the first major fiscal crisis in US history in 1837. His defiance of the Supreme Court lead to the genocidal watch of the Cherokee people from Georgia to Oklahoma.His victory at New Orleans was meaningless. The peace treaty ending the War of 1812 had been signed 14 days prior to battle.

If most Americans differed with Jackson, why was he elected? As I said, he shouldn’t have been on ANY bill due to his economic policies alone.

So Trump and his minions, who get MAJOR welfare from OUR government, DON’T want to keep us in servitude?I LOVE (not) how he’s ONLY this way, and he’ll CHANGE once he gets the nomination!He is a clueless ignoramus who thinks the world revolves around HIM!
