A favorite dog story of mine is “Weep No More, My Lady” (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good-bye,_My_Lady) about a Basenji. What made me think of it was some Basenji mixes I saw at an adoption booth at a fair. Thinking on the plot, it bears a certain resemblance to “Big Red” by Jim Kje…gard (too lazy to look it up). I guess “boy meets dog, boy loses dog” is another of those universal themes.

Eventually Snoopy’s favorite books will be the Six Bunny-Wunnies series by Miss Helen Sweetstory.

He’s sad because he knows Met Life will eventually cancel his contract.

One of my favorite “Far Sides” was of a party with a bunch of sheep standing around, not knowing what to do. Just in time, in comes a border collie!

It could just be because we’re not seeing him in profile, but Snoopy has no point to his nose.

I don’t think there’s a point to any of this. Not that that makes me enjoy it any less.

Oh, I see what you mean. Kinda took it seriously. Old Yeller came around the fifties, which is around the same decade as Peanuts. Should have researched about it a little more. As for books, I generally prefer them over the movies, though they are some very rare exceptions now and then.

When I was a kid I loved reading Albert Payson Terhune’s collie stories.

Boy, that was a long time ago…
