Let’s hope that one of Snoopy’s alter egos is not a butterfly.

I see Snoopy had a vivid imagination even in this early period of the strip!

We’re into the second year, and Snoopy is beginning to show signs of his trademark imagination. I wondered when the characters would start to look more like they ended up, but when I checked out the beginning again, I realised that they have in fact evolved quite a bit already.

When did Snoopy start to have thinking balloons with words in them? And when did he start to walk upright on his hind legs?

I wonder when Sparky decided that Snoopy was Charlie Brown’s dog? In these early ones, he seems to belong to everyone.

She could see the net, but couldn’t spot Charlie Brown’s round head?

This might be the first time Snoopy thought in pictures instead of words (or woofs!) I don’t recall very many other times—was it also the last time?

This relaunch is wonderful. I grew up with the Peanuts books in the 50s, but obviously they couldn’t include everything. It’s delightful to see so many strips that are new to me.
