Better hope he’s too young to go down to the station by himself. Cause he certainly ain’t to you to go outside by himself. And by the looks in that fourth panel he ain’t to young to beat you to a pulp if he does go down to the radio station.

I’ve sent in a few requests to my favorite classical music radio station at times and they’ve played them on the weekend (I just have to send in the request a few days ahead of time). Don’t recall any substitutes.

Man, Schultz must have been really obsessed with the Hammerklavier sonata at this time. That’s like the third time it’s come up!

Poor Schroeder. Here. Hear Valentina Lisitsa cover Beethoven Opus 106 Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 29 in B-flat major, Op. 106 (known as the Große Sonate für das Hammerklavier). This is just the first part, but she recorded the entire Hammerklavier in Hannover when youtube had a ten minute limit, and the rest of the sonata has links on her site. I adore Valentina Lisitsa’s talent, and Bösendorfer. Bösendorfer has chosen Lisitsa as a Bösendorfer artist. Not a fan of her recent politics. Valentina Lisitsa and Hilary Hahn did a project together, and Brooke McEldowney, the creator of 9 Chickweed Lane and Pibgorn available here at GoComics, did the official tour poster for Hilary Hahn. I believe one can still access the purchase of prints of the Hahn poster through McEldowney’s link at GoComics.

Ancestor of the automatic recommendations of today. “If you liked Rite of Spring, you’re sure to love The Blue Danube, because they’re both that classical stuff.”

Imagine if one of the Keane Kids made a face like that! Of course, they won’t appear [yet] until 1960 (my birth year).

Reminds me of those stations that have a pmromotional weekend where they promise to play “the greatest songs of all time.” Time apparently began in 1964. If you’re lucky.
