For those who don’t know the Japanese children’s tale. A god was traveling through the woods disguised as a beggar. He came upon a house in which lived a cow, a sheep and a rabbit.
The cow gave him milk so he would not be thirsty. The sheep gave him wool so he would not be cold. The rabbit, having nothing else to give, threw himself upon the fire so the beggar would not go hungry.
His sacrifice was rewarded; and that’s the rabbit in the moon.
