While it is true that Barry Goldwater would be considered a liberal by the modern Republican party, it is also true that John F. Kennedy would be thought of as an extreme, right-wing demagogue by the modern Democratic party. Both parties are very far removed from the political center.
The media (almost entirely controlled by “conservatives”) have spent several decades dumbing down the population, and making them forget to vote in their own best interest, and instead go totally against themselves..
