There’s a crack in that logic.
My cable company will turn the box off after a period of “inactivity”. Meaning if you have been watching the same channel for more than 4 hours they turn off your cable box remotely.
You have taken ‘couch-slob’ to an art form, Eno. And art is expensive.
Try to get them to explain the fees. Some are “just because we can”
