    Not sure that it applies in Carmen’s case, but some people figure that embaressment will make the clerk/store give a better refund/discount. But for that too apply others have to be around to hear you voice the complaint.

    Huh….I think she would get better satisfaction WITHOUT others around. If she gets a discount or something, the clerk may not want others to know what “special” thing was done for Carmen, as then EVERYBODY might want that special discount. Always better to be one-on-one and not in a crowd where the clerk/manager must conform to rules.
