I am not old enough to have seen “good TV” when it first aired but since cutting my cable and going to an outdoor antenna for over the air TV I’ve discovered more than just good TV. Movies I would have to pay to see on streaming channels or hope to see on cable/dish networks are not a concern anymore. “Burns and Allen” are a funny couple in regular episodes, award winning movies from the ’30’s to the ’60’s are a delight, such as “Lost Horizon” from 1937 and “Anatomy of a Murder” from 1959. No need to travel through space to look for good TV, its out there.
Too many networks. Number of networks = n. Amount of talent in the world = t. Quality = t / n. And if you want 50 networks, you have to accept that there’s far less reason for them to make much effort when their commercial income is divided 50 ways instead of three. As in most things, more is less. .(Of course, if you really care about the quality of what’s on TV, you have a fairly serious life defect, anyway.)
Cable TV is like ground hog day, I stopped having it from 8 years ago. when I do catch it at somebody’s house, it seems practically the same programs and moves are on the time I got rid of it!

After the last episode of Mythbusters airs, there won’t even be a reason for me to own a TV.
