True story: A guy was so mad he threw his clubs into a pond. His buddies watched him storm off the course. A few minutes later they see him walking back to the pond. They figure he has come to his senses and is going to get his clubs. The guy wades out and finds his clubs, He drags them to shore. He searches through the pockets of the bag and pulls out his car keys; then proceeds to heave the bag back into the pond.
When I worked in PR, I got a card inviting me to a celebrity roast. The target was a well-known TV news reporter, of whom it was said, among other things, that on his last trip to the golf course he broke 100. Didn’t know he had that many clubs in the bag.
