I am so much like Phil. I hated having to say no to my daughter. Being a single parent is not easy. I wouldn’t recommend it as a choice unless you’ve got lotsa doh-re-mi. Have fun Phil. It can be an exercise, a kind of game and when it all balances – time for a well deserved glass of wine.

I don’t really understand this. Why is he paying her bills? My husband & I each paid 50% of the rent & utilities, to the penny.

As a single person, I don’t make enough money to pay all of my monthly bills so I juggle them, trying not to skip paying the same bill two months in a row. But sometimes I can’t even afford to do that.

Still writing checks? I pay all my bills online. It’s just as painful but it takes a lot less of my time.

I can understand why Valerie may have struggled with bills sometimes. I certainly understand Phil and Valerie combining finances. I don’t understand how this this a “oh by the way” from Valerie. Had they discussed this? Valerie may not feel as though she lied, but she still failed to tell Phil apparently any of this before. Omission is still deceit.
