Stone Soup by Jan Eliot for April 03, 2016
Transcript:
Stone Soup by Jan Eliot Wally: Done with your taxes, Phil? Phil: Almost. Phil: We're filing jointly, and Val's record-keeping is a little...disjointed. Wally: Be thankful you married the ORGANIZED sister. When I married Joan, she hadn't used a check register in YEARS. Wally: It's a single mom thing. They can barely keep up. Phil: So we pull them out of debt and chaos. Wally: It's one of the gifts we give to the family we married into. Phil: Wow. We're pretty cool! Wally: Broke, but cool.
With Direct-Deposit and auto-payments for everything else, I have stopped writing paper checks to anyone. So I have gotten out of the habit of documenting the register and balancing the checkbook every month.
