Our calendar should consist of thirteen 4 week periods. Then the extra day every four years could be added anytime during the year to increase the excitement…
Richard S. RussellThere was a plan similar to that which actually made it to the UN, keeping months in a 30, 30, 31 day cycle, with the same date falling on the same day of the week every year. It was blocked by a US veto on grounds that “World Day” and “Leap Day”, being on no day of the week. would interfere with fundamentalists’ Sabbath rotation. Aren’t these cults ever permitted to cross the International Date Line? I suspect, despite that official reason, it was really the calendar makers’ lobby that stopped it. The same every year would reduce the need to buy new calendars every year.
Phatts CaliforniaAn o9rganized lobby, probably not, but for a highly competitive multi-billion dollar industry that depends on the (artificial) need for a new product line every year…
