My personal favorite was Bloom County, but I think most people would vote for Doonesbury.

Pogo all the way, but I’m wondering what the average age is of all of us fans. p.s. R.I.P. Walt Kelly.

    “Garfield”, Satchel? Really?

Oh well, it could’ve been worse- he could’ve said “Rose is Rose”…

Ooooo! I love the one where Dust Bowl Willie trades his youngest to a medical research lab for an old shoe to cook up for dinner. Hilarious.

I go Pogo! But I do remember the Jackson Twins and the Model T Ford they drove, nicknamed T for Two.

I love Pogo, but Calvin and Hobbes is the best, IMHO. Peanuts follows close behind Pogo.

My three favorite comic strips – and I must say this is purely subjective – are Pogo, Krazy Kat, and Peanuts; I can’t get it down to a single strip. For me it’s a combination of aesthetics, prose and humor. Krazy Kat is high art, pure and simple, quite lyrical and in its own way quite funny. Peanuts is beautiful in its simple art, says a lot about the human condition and hilarious. And Pogo is… Pogo.

And people here have listed some quite funny strips, and I enjoy them a lot. Calvin & Hobbes is up there, too, for the reasons I’ve listed, as is Bloom County and its spinoffs.

I want to mention that some of these strips – Peanuts and Pogo come to mind – are being reprinted in their entirety. (Entirties? Whatever.) Thank you, Fantagraphics.

‘Pogo’ was a wonderful commentary on society, politics, and people in general, which spoke a lot of truth. And it managed to be quite entertaining while making us take a good look at ourselves.
