No, John, you showing up was probably what went wrong…

At the end of the day, the only thing that actually matters is that you get married to the person you love.

was told the things that go wrong are the things you remember. They make the wedding interesting. We spent one of my wedding showers talking about all the things that went wrong at the guests weddings and laughing. As long as no one dies (or is severely injured) or there’s no major disaster (no bridzilla, your maid of honor’s makeup being uneven doesn’t count) later you’ll laugh. Roll with it and enjoy yourself.

Twenty-six this June. Got married on a weekend, just before the wedding the preacher was having the witnesses sign the license. Suddenly he came to me and said that he couldn’t marry us that the license wasn’t any good, that it had expired. I thought it was a joke that my brother, the best man, was trying to play on me. But no they had put the wrong date on the license and it was dated over 30 days and not the 3 days since I’d got it. After a frantic phone call we eventually were married that day if only 20 minutes late.

It’s been a standard joke for years that the bride and family do all the work for the wedding and all the groom has to do is “show up”.

For hubby and I in later April 35 years. I remember during rehearsal I was going to try for a prank of practice walk of turning around and walking away but I did not as I knew the man I married then as now the right one for me. And with my mom who has advancing Dementia my hubby is a saint.

I cannot remember did Phil go through with the wedding?

As Ross Geller in Friends said, “As the groom, all you have to do is show up and try to say the right name.”

On our 50th, I relinquished the requirement of the annual performance review. At the 56th, I was considering reinstating it, but I couldn’t remember her name, and, anyway, no one else would have me.

37 years of not married for us. We look like an old married couple and act like one too. But when ever I suggest actually getting married she just says no. I’m beginning to think maybe she doesn’t like me!

We were married nearly 55 years and I still remember the recessional when I had to practically run to keep up with my new husband. Still have to laugh at it. One of my fond memories.

Thanks for the advice. Two problems though: he’s already married and I’m not gay. ;-)

26 years in October. Just remember, we grooms don’t show up until page 86 in the wedding album.

As things turned out, it might have been better if he hadn’t shown up.
