    Before they were called chalkboards, they were called blackboards, since they were made of slate, which is a black rock. Green came in by the time my kids were in school. I haven’t checked out any classrooms lately.

    Today’s kids all love chalk for sidewalk art! And, yes, black/chalkboards are still in use. Great cartoon!
