It is about the innocents killed. I know lots of NRA members and doing a background check is not an issue. Having the funds and manpower available to perform these checks is the issue. This Republican Congress is a beacon for do-nothing stalemates. Shame on them.

Why do Americans insist that the mentally ill must have guns?

Obama has issued less Excec orders than other presidents. And why are true American Patriots so fearful of better background checks?

Executive Action is still governed by law. If the action is illegal it is taken to court and over turned if it violates the law. The President is not free to do anything he wants. The Congress on the other hand can pass about any law they want as long as it does not violate the constitution but they don’t even try, Here lately they mostly run for election, go on vacation, and spend a lot of time in their home districts. To bad we can’t get some people in Congress who really want to do the right thing for the county. Mr. Smith is dead.

The NRA has the Congress tied up in knots. it is really insane to have a background check law and then provide numerous exceptions to get around it. If you can’t pass the check go to a gun show or just buy it privately or be a LLC and create a gun trust. The last one is really neat because you can buy automatic weapons and silencers with absolutely no checks. Anybody can be a small “dealer”. It is a waste of taxes to have a law and spend money to enforce it when it is designed to not be effective.

What so many of you are missing about this toon is that his actions will do nothing to curb firearm violence. Liberals love to howl about how we need to stop these massacres and how we need to stop inner city youth from gunning themselves down in Chicago, LA, DC, and NY. The problem is none of their proposals will solve these things; more regulation is not what’s going to keep firearms out of the hands out of criminals. It will only keep firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. A perfect example is the terror attack in CA. The firearm was purchased in the most restrictive state in the nation (CA), where 30-round mags are not permitted, and yet somehow they managed to employ these weapons with high-cap mags. More regulation isn’t going to fix it, and disarming Americans isn’t going to stop it. Making MORE regulation on owning a firearm is like making the driver’s test more difficult to prevent carjackings. So blaming Republicans in Congress for not doing anything is misguided; they recognize that platitudes won’t solve the problem. And disarming potential victims doesn’t reduce the quantity of criminals. But you guys are so focused on your ideology that you can’t see that your proposed solutions will have zero practical impact on the long gun homicide rate (which is already insanely low) and mass shootings in this country. After all, the cities with the highest volume of firearm homicides are run by Democrats and have the strictest firearm regulations in the country. So clearly that isn’t working. So I ask what practical solutions you have that don’t involve making it harder for law-abiding citizens to purchase firearms. How do you sift out the chaff without hurting the people who have no intent to do harm, and actually wish to simply protect themselves and their families/friends?

Not a single conservative has been able to put his finger on what, exactly, is unconstitutional about Obama’s actions yesterday. Executive actions are the president’s job.

Remind me Benson, what has the Republicans done to curb the tide of excessive guns getting in the hands of terrorists, criminals and the mentally insane? Oh yeah that’s right, you guys captured a Bird Sanctuary. You must be so proud.

Which explains why he’s locked up all those opposing him and banned right wing radio. Just yesterday his storm troopers showed up at my house and took away my guns and you’ll be next, so head to Oregon and be prepared to join the true patriots. He’s a dictator who staged a coup to gain power and a monster and we only wish we could have Bush-Cheyney back or hopefully we’ll get Trump and with his support by the Nazis and KKK he’ll set things right in America again!

Obama deported more illegals than previous presidents. Many of the guns in Mexico came from the US, not the other way around.

By the way, Lisa; Obama is not up for re-election, and is only finishing out his final year in office. Please tell us, your readers, just how you came up with this ’toon?

“I’m sure if he could run for a 3rd term, simply disagreeing with him would be grounds to have guns taken away.”Yeah, Obama’s been coming to get your guns for 6 years, 352 days now.

“You really believe the DOJ will enforce this stuff.”Typically, the DOJ declines to prosecute cases where the accused is already receiving a lengthy sentence from prosecution by local authorities for other crimes. There’s also an unwillingness to nail a guy to the wall because he was too stupid to realize the felony assault conviction he received for getting in a bar fight 20 years ago means he’s going to fail a background check. Meanwhile, the NRA wants to undermine the DOJ & ATF even further.http://mediamatters.org/blog/2015/10/28/nra-falsely-claims-that-obama-refuses-to-enforc/206481

Very odd. If Mr. O does nothing, which is what the GOP wants him to do, then he’s a “do nothing President”. If, on the other hand, Mr. O does something, anything, then he’s engaging in “executive overreach”.

“Your link is a little outdate (2012) but it states that the majority of the Mexico to US migrants are Unauthorized Immigrants where as the US to Mexico are legal migrants.”Where do you pull that from? The link makes it clear that more Mexicans are leaving the US than entering. If a Mexican who is in the US returns to Mexico, of course she is a “legal” migrant. The headline here is that the massive influx of Mexican immigrants has dropped by a huge amount, while many are returning to Mexico, some by choice some because of Obama’s increase in deportations.
