Just for the record: just say “NO!” I got sick and tired of my SS number going to doctors and I finally just told the office personnel I wouldn’t give it. The only one who balked was one who said their system was still set up only to recognize me by that number. I stopped going there. Now I leave it blank and no one says boo.
