Several years ago I was on a photo safari in Tanzania and witnessed a pack of hyena surround a male lion who had a warthog. Eventually the lion decided to be that live coward instead of dead hero and the hyena defended upon the deceased warthog. Nature at its most raw and most awesome.
Oh, joy! 2016 will be a Good Year, for the Hyena of Good Fortune has shown up, carrying a fresh trophy human leg….As they used to say of the rabbit who lost his good-luck leg, mutatis mutandis, “…except for the one-legged human.”

This year he ran by my house with a human liver. I’m not sure if that’s a good sign or an evil omen. (He did seem very happy though.)
