A proper assessment of personal risk is needed here. Terrorism and mass shootings are thousands of times less likely than being shot by a relative or acquaintance and a couple of thousand less likely that being killed driving to the sale at the local store or to Grandma’s house. If your going to worry, at least worry about the right things.
Steve, How about doing a ’toon about George W. Bush, as how he was focusing on invading Iraq, while ignoring a great deal of intelligence pointing to an upcoming attack on U.S. soil. The revelations, and declassified facts that have come to light in recent years makes it absolutely dumbfounding that people like you still support the Republican agenda, and continue to lambaste Obama, no matter WHAT he does, or did. Like finishing off the job that Georgie neglected. But then again, this says a lot about YOU!
interesting that people are trying to redirect a very liberal cartoonist back to the bush. frightening, and on PBS the other day, a liberal columnist actually castigated barry for his mideast policy (or lack thereof). what is this world coming to?
Re. “… Cutting off funding …”:The Republican Party controlled the House and the Senate from 1995 – 2007. So “a toon” of the type you describe would be fiction.
Denis: the Republicans in Congress, notably the House, cut the budget with “line items”, repeatedly, on many programs, and have played that game all through Obama’s administration, micro-managing with the budge what is supposedly Executive Branch authorities.
What really bothers me, as a combat veteran, with a son who’s also a combat veteran (both disabled), is the fear cowardice, xenophobia, and outright bigotry, and stupidity, of the American people so panicked by that same Republican party’s fear-mongering.
Just saw it noted there are literally hundreds of thousands of wanted felons on the loose in the US, how therefore are agencies supposed to stop “lone wolf” attacks, like Charleston, Aurora,Roseburg, et al, not just San Bernardino? Yes, there IS a problem, but constant fear is NOT the answer, especially the absurd “solutions” provided by all the right wing “candidates”.
Considering that the CIA removed the ELECTED prime minister of Iran in 1953 to protect oil company profits, Iran-Contra, and CIA smuggling of cocaine from South America, I think we should look at replacing the CIA with an organization that doesn’t CREATE more problems and conflicts.
Obama said that we should not radically change our lives as that is giving in to terrorism. Bush was the one who said to go shopping after 9/11. Then he attacked Iraq based on lies, took out Saddam which led to the creation of ISIS. This was predicted by Cheney when he was Sec of Defense in 1992 but his greed for Halliburton profits outweighed any concern about this.
Benson, what country do you even live in? Do you REALLY, TRULY think that we live in a such a nation? Yes, violence exists. But it is safe to go shopping in America. It is safe to go visit family and friends in America. It is safe to go to work in America. This is not complacency, this is the truth. This type of cowardice and rhetoric is what makes America dangerous, not President Obama.
Ah yes, the land of the extremely fearful. All I’ve heard for far too long is be afraid be very afraid. Sorry, but I’m continuing on with life, and shall continue to do so. If the terrorists do come after me, so be it, but I’ll die giving them the finger.
Ignore reality. Reject statistics. Pay no attention to what is actually happening. We need fear, we want fear, we love fear! Spread it! Roll in it! Share it with your friends!

How ’bout a declaration of denis1112 as “racist of the year”? Or perhaps, “#1 fan of the coming police state”?
