A few years ago when I was still working a fellow employee came into the store fumeing, he’d overheard a couple panhandlers talking just outside of the store and one of them had commented that he’d have to find another place to beg because he’d only made $20 in the past hour. At that time the top wage in the store was $10 an hour.

Schools in this county cannot sell anything made at home. “Bake sales” were all prepackaged factory food. Nobody would buy it, so they stopped.
