The last attempt to offer Illegals Amnesty? McCain and Bush not too long ago.

dtroutma, are you talking about the “Patriot Act” that Obama extended for a year in 2009, and again extended for a year this Spring? That Patriot act that is approaching 10 years old and despite the dire warnings of the left, hasn’t ended up with the average citizen’s rights being trampled?

Jade, one of the biggest problems people on the right had with Bush and McCain was their weakness when it came to illegal immigration. The other was their not working to make government smaller, which is a core principle of conservatives.

Of course, just as Obama promised to close Gitmo in his first year, while 1 1/2 years later there’s no closing in sight, politicians on both sides find it convenient to side step the wishes of their constituents, when they feel it will have a negative impact on their long term political career. I’ve know extremely few politicians of either party who don’t put their own career ahead of EVERYTHING.

Jade If Bush and McCain offered amnesty to some illegal aliens knowing they would vote Democratic, it is an example of what is best for the country rather than what is best for me.

Obama, by some strange coincidence, drops voter repression charges against the Black Panthers and supports ignoring millions of illegal aliens. Just what do you think ties these two acts together?

    SuperGriz: “Non-citizens can’t vote.”

That’s why Obama and other Democrats want amnesty for the millions of illegals- that will eventually make them all citizens and able to vote and of course, those illegals love the tax payer funded handouts Democrats and will vote accordingly, giving the Dems a near 20 million voter boost and guaranteeing that they will take and hold power indefinitely.

SuperGriz Have you ever been in Chicago? Dead people can’t vote. Prisoners can’t vote but both groups do by the tens of thousand. You really cannot be that naive. Drugs are illegal so no one takes drugs. Hand guns in Chicago are illegal so no one has a gun.

Amazing the contortion people go through to pretend their party is virtuous.

Yeah, I tell you, the guy is a total wuss. Glad to see I’m not the only one hoping he’d one day start following an actual left-wing policy! Come on, dude, you have a huge deficit - raise taxes, cut spending on the military, and stop compromising and bending over to the right on everything you hope for a voice or two - they won’t vote for what you want anyway!

He’s not closing gitmo because the righties oppose it.

That’s what righties do; they oppose something and then blame their opponent or not doing what they opposed against.

completely illogical, but logic doesn’t hand in the balance whey you think you are fighting a demon. Everything’s allowed.

LOL! So much idiocy here! Where to start?

parker5oh, as I’ve said before, Obama promises a lot but how often does he keep his word? Plus, I don’t care if they end up paying taxes- they came here illegally, then they have the gall to expect us to change our society and culture to suit them. And the left just want their votes so the Dems can stay in power- the Dems are finding the American people aren’t happy with the stuff that’s being rammed down our throats, so they would definitely love to get those illegals made legal and get their votes to override the American citizens!

Corosive Frog, our elections tend to be very close with just a few percentage points swaying us back and forth from Democrat to Republican. Those millions of illegals would totally tip the balance. That’s what Obama, Pelosi, et al are counting on, and I’m sure you are too! You guys would love nothing more than being able to have the total power to force your Nanny State Socialist Utopia on us.

Oh, and I picked strawberries as a kid for a summer job- kids can’t do that anymore around here, as it’s been taken over by Hispanics. And are you going to tell me that those millions of illegals only work menial jobs and never, ever go on to other, higher paying jobs? Sure, an illegal who first comes here isn’t competition with most Americans jobs, but eventually they move up and compete in more and more jobs.

Why not let them stay in Mexico, etc., and force their own governments to fix their country? Especially when so many illegals seem to dislike the way America does things, dislike our culture, our language, etc. What would you say to Americans that move down to Mexico or any other country and demand that everything be provided in English, that Mexico provide education, health care and other services? I’d call that an ugly American and a jerk.

Finally, Obama can and does push through things he wants, even when the American public disagrees. So, he has the power to close GITMO at any time he wishes. Kind of lame of you to say he can’t because Republicans, who are in the minority of both Houses, are stopping him. LOL! That’s actually extremely ridiculous. If Obama and the Dems want something, they have the control of both the executive and legislative branches. The Republicans can do no more than slightly delay things- just as the Dems have done when they’re out of power. But the Obama/Reid/Pelosi Triumvirate have pushed through plenty of stuff that the Republicans have TOTALLY opposed.

Your last statement shows just how totally dishonest you are! It’s really pathetic and proves your bias goes beyond all reason. You can’t even hold your precious Obama responsible when he goes back on his word on something you guys on the left want.

It wouldn’t stay with the democrats forever. In a bipartisan system, people don’t elect the same party for decades in a row. Eventually, people get sick of too much of the same party for too long and accept the alternative, no matter how much they hate it. That’s how we ended up wit ha far right party after thirteen years of a Liberal prime minister.

If you let the latinos in, the right-wing side of the Democrats will vote republican.

And is Obama for an amnesty anyway? On what terms? Where and when did he say he was in favor?

90-95% of African-Americans voted for Obama in 2008. They have been overwhelmingly Democratic for 50 years. In a poll in June amongst independents Obama had less than a 40% approval rate. Amongst African-Americans it was 91% approval.

If you rob Peter to pay Paul you will always get Paul’s vote.

Libertarian1!!! That was EXACTLY what I was going to say! The Dems have counted on almost all blacks voting their way for decades! The Dems promise special rights and goodies for minorities, buying their votes. Corosive Frog trying to tell us that it’s fine that those millions of illegals get amnesty, because “eventually” they’ll not just vote Democrat is ridiculous! Even if he believes that, how many decades before that happened? And the idea that a portion of the Democrat party would just waltz over to the Republicans to balance things out?

That’s what astonishes me here. These leftists spew lies that you’d think even they would be too embarrassed to say!

Brandon; I’m not saying latinos will vote republican (but after a few decades, why wouldn’t they?) I’m saying a small part of the white democrtic voters will vote republican.

Plus, with the way you electoral system works, it won’t change much if they all go to a few states with few great electors that already vote democrat. California has voted democrat for ages.

This law is so unconstitutional. The 4th Amendment says:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

The constitution does not say reasonable suspicion (let alone the warrant less part). I have a feeling that this law is aimed at the elections coming up as a way to suppress the (legal) Latin American vote. Jan Brewer, as secretary of the State, pulled a stunt that Katherine Harris pulled here in Florida: cage voting. In Brewer’s case she challenged every legal Latino’s vote, which is legal in the state of Arizona.

Corosive Frog, I still don’t understand where you get the idea that by giving 20 million Hispanics amnesty that somehow Democrats will switch to Republican. This is a prime example of the ridiculous propaganda you liberals are so good at- you’ll say, with a straight face that water is dry, that light is dark and good is evil and expect us to believe you!

If the Dems get those 20 million amnesty voters, you can not tell me that wouldn’t totally push the balance in power of the Democrats. And after a few decades some of those Hispanics might vote Republican??? Well, that would just be wonderful- just give you Dems 30 years of total control so you and Obama can transform us into the Nanny State Caliphate.

    Unbelievable!
