Statements such as these are ludicrous and dangerous. All this breast beating about compassion, fear and a desire for “wisdom” in the face of intentional ignorance is appalling. You don’t already know what Islam preaches? You are willing to look the other way when everything and everyone but Islam goes under the sword with the willing tolerance of Western civilization? Then you cry about the “innocent”, boo-hoo and the only thing that gets done is a bit of self flagellation until the next time? I’m sorry; “a setback” and “they are provoked” is utter insanity. And, with due respect, so is the Pope’s condemnation of the weapons manufacturers rather than blaming a barbaric cultural mindset that either carries out or silently sits by while savagery is being perpetrated by them against the rest of the world. The rest of us aren’t buying Mr. Stantis’s crocodile tears. True multiculturalism means genuinely understanding other cultures NOT ascribing noble qualities to them for what one wishes they were. You want wisdom? Try actually paying attention to reality instead of mounting your unicorn and riding off to Candyland. All this BS is doing is hastening the end of civilization.

Scott, I have the same question you posed in this strip: what good am I doing with my small life when there is such an overwhelming need for world-wide peace and compassion? The world today is unspeakably sad. I will say this to you: your life matters. And your strip matters. Comics are Everyman’s take on philosophy. It’s how many of us process what is going on in the world. You give us clarity and insight. Keep on keepin’ on. You DO make a difference.

Good comic. And I think you are wise. You want to help to fix — or at least understand — a problem with so many angles, that you KNOW you can’t do it, and it makes you crazy to have to watch.

Thank you for doing what you can.
