I knew a girl named Wolf who was born a twin. That wasn’t her name any more, of course. She married somebody with an entirely different name. But she was raised by Wolfs. One of my favorite people, actually.

The Lupa Capitolina: revered ancient monument (with two Pollaiuolo Boys), or medieval pious fraud?Does St. Teresa of the Lame have insight?

Heh… all societies ran on death and slavery in those days. Greece, cradle of democracy, ran on death and slavery. America had abolished the creation of slaves well before it abolished slavery. You could not be made a slave. Existing slaves could still have their ownership transferred, however, which created a market for foreign slaves, supplied by European traders from African coastal cities who raided their less fortunate middle class fly-over country brethren to support their own indulgent lifestyles. Not that anybody was actually flying in those days, but the interior has always been less important than the coast, except in the case of Rome, which built a complex and very usable system of roads.

If pigs could fly, you would need a much sturdier umbrella. All prophecy is always in doubt. And then, even when a prophecy is proven to be false or true, there is always interpretation to reverse its meaning. If a prophecy were to be completely accurate, with names and dates and distinguishing details, you wouldn’t have any difficulty in determining if it were real.

For the moment, maybe, depending on what those are. I expect that all will be different tomorrow. It usually is. Hanging on to the past would serve no purpose for me.
