He saved a last piece of Halloween Candy in his box of treasures and has pulled it out. I thought he was sugar rushing until i saw they were treasures and not candy around him.

Things that kids used to collect. Star Wars figures, Luke, baseball cards, coins, hot wheels/matchbox cars, marbles and even keys.

At Hallowe’en in 1971, I was in hospital, so my siblings went trick-or-treating with an extra bag “for our brother in hospital” (all the neighbours knew the situation). I had enough candy to fill a five-gallon bag! The nurses meted it out to me (if I recall I was allowed one or maybe two pieces per day). Even though I was out of hospital by Thanksgiving, the candy lasted nearly until Easter (I recall that the last piece was a rather stale length of red “shoe-string” licorice; a bit crunchy, but still tasted okay).

1980 was the last time I actually trick or treated. I was 11, After that, I helped hand out candy but the childhood magic was over. Still good memories.
