Back in the 60’s, the concern was the possibility of an upcoming ice age. Now it is global warming. This just shows how lacking our scientific knowledge actually is. I wonder what climatologists will be saying in another 50 years.
Well, forty years ago I think it was there where two major mechanisms identified where one would make the Earth colder and one would make it warmer. They started looking into which one would win out as it wasn’t clear at that point. Turns out the warming mechanism was determined to be the prevailing one and hence today’s predictions.
That’s science improving.

The same Chicken Littles crying about global warming this decade were crying about the next ice age only 20, 30 years ago. Just goes to show, not everything they know is so.
