It is a scourge that congress needs to terminate with extreme prejudice.

The second panel sums it up perfectly. No one knows the true reason, yet they blindly follow this stupid practice every springtime.FYI: It doesn’t conserve energy, or benefit farmers. The “earth’s orbit” explanation makes about as much sense as any other lame reason. And “some people” hate it? No, a lot of people hate it.

It has nothing to do with farmers, they hate it. It started in 19th century when European factory owners wanted to delay use of artificial light to keep workers at the job. A money saving measure. US adopted during WWI.

It’s Daylight Saving Time – only one S in Saving. Follow the U.S. state legislatures’ attempts to pass DST changes here:http://TimeZoneReport.comTwitter: @TimeZoneReport22 states had DST-related legislation this year!

I’m confused – I thought everybody loved daylight saving time and hated standard time. Who doesn’t like it to be light later in the evening?

The change supposedly affect only the summer time. Supposedly to save energy. But in Europe the European Commission say that the best reason to keep it is to enjoy evening activities during the warm months.

Someone with the know how, should circulate a petition to permanently discontinue daylight saving time. I would prefer to stay on standard time.

I’m guessing Frank hates it. He’s a pretty run-of-the-mill curmudgeon with strong opinions on most things. Sounds a lot like me, come to think of it.

All clocks and clock based time are artificial. Early man used the sun. But now that we’re using clocks for work and leisure time, it makes more sense to me to have it light until 8 in the evening, after work, than to have it start getting light at 4 a.m.

DST is the cause of human-caused global warming. One extra hour of daylight for 8 months out of the year – it adds up.

I agree…it has outlived its usefulness. The average American home is FULL of timepieces. The oven, microwave, coffeepot, 2 kitchen timers for cooking, phone, TV, cable box, computer, wall clock…that’s just the kitchen! The cable box & computer set themselves…guess who had to change the rest???Each room in my home has at least one or more clocks. Set it to ONE time, and leave it alone!
