A good example of how Benson argues. Although the regulations would cover only drones, she makes it sound as if they would cover toys in general. Likewise, any gun regulation at all is the same as confiscating all guns.
It might be better to require a GPS and altitude capability in every drone that would prevent them from flying in protected air space. This would make them all more expensive. Even then the morons in the world will eventually crash them into a crowd or an auto windshield and end up killing someone.
I saw this coming, I fly kites and we fall under FAA rules believe it or not. No flying within 5 miles of an airport no flying over 500 feet. (airplanes have to stay above 500 unless taking off or landing or crashing) So when I started to see all the news stores about all the drone problems cropping up I figured it was just a mater of time. When the fools have the controls it ruins it for the everyone else.
LOng ago had to have a radio license for RC aircraft, then not, but there were still safety rules in place, and most RC clubs were very concerned with safety, notably line of sight control, and under 500 foot ceiling.
These new drones go WAY out of sight, and have much greater capabiilties for causing severe problems, especially when operated by morons. In uses licensed for fire control, or sound and safe operations, they have a role, but sorry, they need stricter controls. Have RC aircraft and a small “drone” that only differs from my indoor birds by being radio controlled, but with limited range. That one is not a problem, but it is the massive increase in their numbers and idiots using them that endangeer aircraft, and also are causing real problems in wildlife habitat, especially for birds.
It all revolves around the “I can do it, I wann’a do it, so I have to be able to do it, anytime, anywhere” syndrome that represents the least responsible parties in our society, culture, and politics. “What’s mine is mine, what’s yours is mine too.” IS the "conervative " view, not the “liberal”, but Lisa and the leaned far right loonies will never admit that.
Guess the ladies wont be able to sunbathe on the back porch any more, the freaks with drones will be flying over peeping. Also, those guys who usd to push rocks over a bridge at a car down below wont have to do it anymore. they can get their kicks by flying their drones in and out of traffic on the thruway.Seriously, drones do present a privacy and safety problem, registering them will at least make the owners responsible for what they do with the drones.

Soon you will need to be licensed to operate a drone. And undergo a background check to buy it. Not to mention the additional taxes.

It’s the slippery slope argument. First they take your drones, then they take your guns.

The same people that complain about the regulation would be the first people to complain if for whatever reason drones invaded their privacy.
