What Dr. Carson said was not “crazy good logic”. .Someone should have yelled, “LET’S ROLL!” Yes, 2 or 3 may have been shot but not all by doing nothing. .There is a big difference between one lone gunman with a gun against your head versus one lone gunman and 15 or 20 people just standing there like sheep waiting to be slaughtered.

For those who do not seem aware that this is a cartoon, and thus uses exaggeration to make a point, this is exactly what Ben Carson said: “I would not just stand there and let him shoot me,” said Carson during a Fox News interview. “I would say, ‘Hey, guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.’”And for the record, in the exact incident to which he referred, the gunman had thirteen guns, so, actually, he probably could have gotten them all.As for the Nazi reference, he said: “The likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed,” which statement has been described by an anti-Semitism group as “historically inaccurate.” So if anything, the cartoon is merely a simpler restatement of Dr. Carson’s comments.

I believe Dr. Carson meant that if you are about to die, fight. If you fight back, you just might save yourself and others. Being a dead sheep who just stood there waiting to be killed is stupid, when, if you and others fought back, you might have been saved. Suicide by others is a losers way out.

Exactly, sadly. The Germans would’ve turned our arms on us.

On this one, Rob Rogers is right. My cousins at Augustow during the Soviet part of the Holocaust were armed and died at Augustow, and their bodies have never been found.

A friend born in Austria related how they cheered Hitler when he showed up. Later, folks, like some of his generals, did try to off him when he went totally nuts. But it’s interesting how many millions of Germans Hitler DID give guns to. Nationalism, like religions, often results in lots of people picking up and using lots of guns.

BTW: Sand Creek demonstrates what happened when women, children, and old men didn’t have guns. Little Big Horn showed what happened when armed MEN in FAR SUPERIOR NUMBERS show up. It isn’t just the guns, but also the numbers.

When one guy with an assault rifle or semi-auto large magazine pistol takes aim at a group, even four or five, who’s going to charge first, when the shooter has 15 to 50 rounds to fire at them? It isn’t just, “he can only get one of us”, in that situation, or even just six.

I know of a great neurosurgeon who could separate those twins.Carson appears to be the apotheosis of the Peter Principle—that people rise to their level of incompetence. Shame he couldn’t just retire in honor as a great surgeon.
