Reminds me of a Halloween while my father was stationed in Alaska. My friend and I went to the house for the commanding general of the base. When we went into the porch, there were two huge bowls sitting on a table. The house keeper was there and told us to take one from each bowl. In the bowls were the small orange and brown candies. That is cheap.
A co-worker of mine said her dad owned a gorilla suit. He would put out a big bowl of candy and sit motionless on the porch. If/when any kids, after (erroneously) ascertaining to their own satisfaction that the gorilla was fake, started to clear out the bowl, he would rise up suddenly, growling loudly. I suspect some costumes went home wet.
