These events are becoming a regular thing. Guns owners kill about as many people as drivers kill each year. We regulate auto safety and require training and qualification for drivers but anybody can own a gun. Private sales and gun shows do not require any kind of background check or qualification. The President is correct, it makes absolutely no sense for a country to allow this. It is not about taking guns away or not allowing ownership, it is simple safety and trying to keep guns out of the hands of mental basket cases.

It was a hoax. There were actors involved. No one actually died. They’re coming to take our guns and our freedoms. Amerika is the last country in the world where they haven’t taken the guns away. It’s all part of the New World Order, establishing a one-world government. And it’s too early to politicize it.

Have I left anything out? If anyone understands the mindset that results in these ideas, please explain it to me.

We mustn’t politicize this event. It’s too soon before the next tragedy.

So all you gun control nuts. What gun control law would have prevented this? I keep asking this and you all keep running away from it. Why? Because the problem isn’t guns. The problem is the people who want to do acts like this. A gun control law isn’t going to stop someone bent on committing murder. I know it. You know it. You just don’t have the guts to admit the truth.

OK, so why don’t we see far more gun violence than we do? Why is violent crime, including murder, on a steady decline even as more and more guns are purchased? .Even though it is legal to open carry in many places, it is also legal for a police officer to stop you and verify you are legally allowed to possess a weapon. What criminal, knowing they are not allowed to possess a weapon, would open carry? .And now to the lie that no other developed nation has anywhere near the rate of shooting deaths. While many countries with higher homicide rates can be debated as to how developed they are, Russia is not one of them. 2009, the last year they have stats for Russia, the homicide total in Russia was 21,603 as compared to 13,636 in the US. When you consider that Russia’s population is less than half the US’s and their gun control is much stricter than here in the US, is it really fair to try and pretend the US is the worst of the worst?

Republican Philosophy: Four Americans die in Benghazi. We need to investigate until we get the answers we want, truth be damned. 30,000 Americans die every year from gun violence. Eh, what are ya gonna do?

@Ted Lind. Apparently you have never been to a Gun Show. Most vendors at Gun Shows have a Federal Firearms License (FFL) to buy and sell firearms. They perform the same background check at a Gun Shows as they do at a brick and mortar store. I purchased a WW2 British Enfield because of it’s historical value. I had to wait an hour, with identification and my CCL, in order to purchase the rifle.

I have a driver’s license to drive vehicles. I have a CCP license to carry a consealed firearm. A license should be required to possess ANY firearm, that’s the first step in reducing illigimate users, and yes, it would also lower the number of illegal guns on the street over time, as with driving w/o a license they confiscate your car.

Which I’ve mentioned before New Zealand licenses gunowners, but doesn’t directly track the firearms. That way, owners take better care of where their weapons are stored, and where they might go. It also means they’re actually qualified, ethically, mentally, and rationaly, to own firearms.

Posted three comments on this strip yesterday, nothing inflammatory, libelous, or even insulting. Yet the powers that be have apparently seen fit to delete all three. I think I’m entitled to an explanation. Mods? The ball’s in your court.

..And now we’ve apparently bombed a hospital. Why are we so eager to jump into the middle of other people’s fights ? Why are we such a warrior nation ? We should be an example of peace, not of war.. It’s no wonder gunmen are shooting people within our borders with our government setting the example outside our borders.
