the wrong person was fired and replaced.
the problem with the US policy in the war on terrorists,
is the civilian anti-war politically-correct civilians who
help the Oval Office occupant undermine the military efforts.
McChrystal or any Pentagon General must of necessity form a “strategy” that the civilian know-nothings will approve, and even then, the civilians undermine the efforts.
^ I agree. Deficits are for chumps. Fight, fight, and fight some more. It doesn’t matter if they’re responsible for the damage [Iraq] go fight anyway. And spend tons of money. And fight, fight, and fight some more. And when people point out that we can’t pay for our fighting, just don’t put it in the budget so it looks like you’re not spending much. After all, out of sight, out of mind, am I right? And keep on fighting. And if anyone disagrees with you, call them anti-American and unpatriotic. But keep on fighting, indefinitely, but complain about any attempt to bolster our economy or fix our education systems as we start to fall behind the rest of the world, because we need to keep on spending money on fighting. That’s all we can do. And when our citizens are too dumb, just make sure we only need to push a button to win, because since we had no money to educate or to produce, we darned well better be good at fighting.
P.S. As for civilian anti-war efforts… history lesson. Before invading Iraq, Bush was told that we would need over 100,000 troops by one of his top ranking generals, General Shinseki. General Shinseki was fired for this and replaced. We went in with fewer troops. We lost a lot of people because we weren’t “greeted as liberators” and the “mission [wasn’t] accomplished” in the initial strike.
Go go power Civilian Leadership. But you keep on selectively plucking that chicken.
A weapon, and the person carrying it, or driving it, becomes the legitimate target, even to Afghans or Iraqis defending their OWN country.
Asking THEM who is best to run THEIR country, instead of TELLING them who WE think is “best”- is the best way to end this mess.
Loose lips sink ships, and careers. At least McChrystal wasn’t calling for nuking China.
I’m just tired of the “ignorant illegitimate children” in the press- some things don’t need to reach print, and some things don’t need a moron with a high school diploma and a microphone deciding what highly trained men, with long experience, and intelligence, should be doing.
Disagreement is good for evaluation. Disrespect is something military tradition is founded on NOT condoning, from ANYONE.
Now if we could just fire those morons with microphones.
Gen. Shenseki was not the only Pentagon leader giving advice to Prez GW. The Pentagon has Generals with many different viewpoints. The number of troops needed was an OPINION.
2.When the US/UK troops first ousted Saddam, the Iraqi people flooded the streets and did in fact greet us as Liberators!
3.When the first troops were nearing San Diego after the first phase of victory….that initial mission WAS ACCOMPLISHED.
