Uh-huh, was there a point inside all the name-calling?
It’s not like US is the only nation to have mandatory healthcare insurance. The main difference is that some other countries pay it through their taxes rather than fees to private companies - others give you the choice which one you prefer. So I guess the US is not rich enough to afford what not only works elsewhere, but works for a lower cost?
Granted, leaving the system in the near-full supervision of those who try to make money of it may have driven prices up a bit, but so what? The customer pays.

“What this law does is not national healthcare but it is a windfall for insurance companies.”
Indeed. Mandatory Participation: thank your Republicans. They love that stuff. Lack of a single-payer system: thank your spineless, unorganized Democrats.
Parker’s Texas, those are the (reality) surprise snakes that flew out of her first aid kit/HC Reform when she opened it. Now after her heart attack she will be cat food. The joke’s on us!
I’m wondering what the percentage of “uninsured” are also “undocumented”?
Then what percentage of those that ARE “documented” have parents that are NOT?
Anyone know where to ask that question and get an HONEST answer?
The “joke snakes” leaping out are no big deal. My new cat knows how to give good back Shiatzu, and apparently, CPR if needed. I guess she’s the new “Republican” health care plan?
Right, don’t forget to chew an aspirin and wait for Cheney’s doc to show up and help, if Dick hasn’t shot him in the face.
Trout you are not even a US citizen so who cares what you have to say.
At least not living here in the GOOD O’L U.S.of A. and that is by your own accounts.
Uh, dave- I’m a 100% disabled vet, born in the United States, and my grandfather was 100 % Cherokee- his ancestors had been here for 12,000 years. My son is about to get out of the Navy after 12 years of service, including with those dudes that make you think of the barkers at Marineland. He is getting a disability discharge as a result of that service, and most likely 100% disability based on multiple injuries, and surgeries that can’t quite “fix” him.
I also served this country for 32 years before my disabilities “caught up” and had to retire- still live in the U.S., so
take your “right wing” c.s. views, and your deserting buddy Bush “W”, and Chicken plucker Cheney and seek avoidance of sunlight and starshine, and don’t let yourself get a moonburn.
We “lefties” actually serve our nation, our people, and our posterity. We care about the environment, personal and public freedom, including religious, and the right to bear arms, if you’re not nuts or a criminal. I also believe in the right to ARM BEARS so they can get even with the oil drillers in the Arctic, gas drillers in Colorado and the west “fracting” the rock and poisoning streams and grasslands- even poisoning “cowboy Bob’s” cows!
If you are NOT an environmentalist, please build a new freeway through your living room, and suck on a few exhaust pipes, and let Cheney’s friends drill an oil well in your momma’s grave- they will if you let ‘em!
This country made a right turn toward stupid when Reagan was elected, and Bush proved they took the brakes out and jammed on the accelerator- but what the heck, facts don’t bother them, ‘cause they never pay attention to any.
When Lisa volunteers to be a medic in Iraq, like my very close friend killed last year on her second tour, she may have something to say.
When most of the people YOU got to know for a year ended up with their names on a wall in D.C.- you can speak to me- I AM an American, and WAS an AMERICAN SOLDIER- I “defended” this country in a stupid, needless, war, and still try to take pride in what this country is SUPPOSED TO STAND FOR, not what guano for brains like Lisa and Limbaugh, and Beck come up with- Auschwitz Annie Coulter should also ride the range a while, on top of a Hotpoint.
i have the kaiser health care plan and have yet to find fault w/ it (except when my shiatzu-giving kitteh bit me and i had to go to the ER. they made me sign a paper that issued a ticket and put him under house arrest for a week).
but, other than that incident, kaiser has the best (imho) overall health care at an acceptable price.
In my travels I compared our relative health care systems with a Montanian. The statistics say that, as well as cost per capita being about a third less, on average Canadians live longer, better outcomes on many treatments, etc.,. The reason is probably obvious - more likely to seek timely treatment if it doesn’t result in bankruptcy. (Unless it is that, on average, we have more sex, which apparently is also statistically true.)
However, what about wait times for which the Canadian system is criticized? From experience, wait-times are not a problem for critical illness such as cancer. If treatment is needed for survival, you will get it immediately (or reasonably close). What then about elective treatments such as hip replacement? Canada: Anecdotally, I’ve heard it will take about a year, but no insurance premiums or co-pays. Free except for what is already paid through taxes. The Montanian said he had a knee replacement for which he waited four months. Further, he was paying $800 per month insurance, and co-paid $8,000. He was required to travel to Billings, MO for treatment at considerable travel and discomfort to him when it could have been done in his home town. This is all anecdotal, but if you had a choice, which system would you choose?

Taxes have actually gone down for average Americans. But up for those making more than a quarter million. She should call her butler.

Yeah, the health care system didn’t need fixing. Let’s just let it ride into oblivion. This message brought to by the GOP.
