Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill, CT is one of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America. With about 500 tracks, it’s small compared to Cal Orcko, but easier for some of us to get to, and still pretty cool….

An Internet site that has been online for many years, run by a trivia expert (author of published works), recently claimed that L. Frank Baum revealed that “OZ” was simply a nonsense-word that he invented — not something that he saw on a book. I suspect that the latter is a little myth that has been picked up by the (non-fact-checking) Ripley crew.

The L. Frank Baum one doesn’t surprise me. I read about that when I was a kid.

160 / minute may seem impressive, but it’s only just under 3 per second, and if I needed to lap up ants for dinner I’d be sucking them in that fast too.A classic example of a gee-wizz number fallacy.

I wonder about some of those dinosaurs: At 30 or 40 tons or more (e g diplodocus) wouldn’t they collapse under own weight if they tried to walg on land?

“The Wonderful Wizard of AN” is definitely not as cool!
