How about the new human species whose skeletons were just found in South Africa? Will National Geographic now deny that evolution exists?

Don’t like science? Buy the journal and edit out the parts you don’t like?http://www.salon.com/2015/09/10/rupert_murdoch_just_bought_national_geographic_heres_the_problem_everybody_should_be_talking_about/“…But outside onlookers, pointing to scientists’ criticism of [Rupert] Murdoch’s comments and Fox’s climate change coverage, gloomily speculated about the effect of the partnership on the magazine’s famous science journalism.

Last year, the Union of Concerned Scientists published a study arguing that 72 percent of Fox’s climate change coverage was “misleading.”

People worried about the future of National Geographic’s climate change coverage might be comforted that James Murdoch, Fox’s chief executive, has argued that “clean energy is a conservative cause.” In an interview with the Guardian published in 2009, he said: “All of the climate-prediction models suggest we’re on the worst-case trajectory, and some cases worse than the worst case. That’s my depressing take on it.”

Good bye subscription. I will not knowingly support Murdock’s enterprises. I wonder what other pies he has his fingers in?

As a subscriber having received the magazine for 53 years, I suspected this was coming. Probably the print version of NGM will not survive long. Will the editorial tone, that has been increasingly “liberal” in recent years change? I hope not. I first got a tingle of fear when I read that FOX was involved in the production of the new “Cosmos.” The only hope is that Murdoch’s sons have a better sense of social responsibility than he does.

so, fox buys an anthropology/nature periodical. Will they deride other cultures? Will they have a pro-business slant? Will the publish hoaxes/frauds? For example, the hitler diaries, elders of zion, howard hughes diary, etc…? Or, will they publish more T&A in NG?

emptc12Wasn’t James the one implicated in the British hack/tap/spy scandal a year or two ago?

Oh no, the National Geographic Channel programming might change…Guess what, it changed years ago.Ever watch “Alaska State Troopers”.How about “Chasing UFO’s” or “Doomsday Preppers”.Then there’s “American Colony: Meet the Hutterites” a reality show about an Amish-like family with all the same drama as the Kardashians.I sure hope the programming does change.
